Spectators are welcome to gather at the half-way mark (Newark Canal Park, where Barker Pkwy intersects with West Shore Boulevard), the finish line or from the water if people wish to bring watercrafts to use in the canal. Parking for the event is available in The Arc Wayne agency lot, or across the canal at The Port of Newark lot.
Registration is available online at https://www.arcwayne.org/newsandevents.html. The cost to register is $5 or $35 for a group of 10. Dance for 55 and Up Proving No One Ever Too Old to Get Down
Wayne County Aging and Youth Senior Dance to be held, Friday Sept 6, 2019
Newark, NY: As summer comes to a close, kids are not alone in wishing the warm weather could stick around. The Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth will be hosting their second annual senior dance on Friday, September 6 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The “endless summer” themed dance will be held at ElderONE, an all-inclusive care center for the elderly located at 1000 Technology Pkwy in Newark, NY.
The Arc Wayne, the Wayne County Action Program and ElderOne, an Affiliate of Rochester Regional Health, have helped make this event possible through sponsorship and support of similar missions. These missions revolve around instilling the best quality of life to those in need of support and inspiring them to reach their full potential.
“That’s what it’s all about – making people feel good and motivating people to get up and move,” said avid program attendee Ruth Dumas. She enjoyed every bit of last year’s dance and is looking forward to having a blast with everyone this year, too.
The dance is for seniors ages 55 and up; the cost of the dance is $5 per person. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP at 315-946-5624 by August 23.
